As 2024 comes to a close, we’re taking a moment to reflect on an incredible year of growth, excitement, and new beginnings in downtown Erie. From welcoming new businesses to hosting unforgettable events, this year has been one of vibrant transformation. Let’s look back at some of the highlights that shaped our community.

New Businesses Bring Fresh Energy

This year saw several exciting additions to downtown Erie’s business landscape:

  • IPPA Pizza opened at the Flagship City Food Hall, quickly becoming a go-to spot for artisan pizzas.

  • Kay’s Nails brought professional nail services to the heart of downtown.

  • Triple D’s Tastey Grill relocated to the Food Hall, serving burgers, wings, and more.

  • Taco Cantina joined the mix, offering crave-worthy burritos, tacos, and quesadillas—perfect for Taco Tuesday!

  • Hazards Mini Golf added family-friendly entertainment to the scene.

  • Erie Arts & Culture moved into the historic Cashier’s House, further enriching Erie’s cultural landscape.

  • Taste and See reopened at the Food Hall, bringing a celebration of healthy, vibrant food.

  • The Brig Cigar Lounge created a sophisticated space for cigar enthusiasts to relax in style.

Downtown Erie came alive with events that celebrated community and creativity:

  • Halloween at the Food Hall featured 42 hand-carved pumpkins, a live performance by Broke Boland’s String Show, and themed food and drinks.

  • The Eclipse at the Food Hall offered a glowing, cosmic experience with eclipse-themed decor and menu items.

  • Jingle & Mingle, presented by Erie News Now, included a Santa meet-and-greet, live music, and a festive live broadcast.

  • The 429 State Alley Parties brought music, food, and vibrant energy to a unique venue.

  • The Perry Square Live Music Series welcomed the Food Hall Snack Shack, serving delicious treats to complement the tunes.

  • Luminary Cocktails & Bottle Shop’s new music series added yet another reason to visit downtown Erie.

Housing Milestones

In 2024, we celebrated the opening of 32 new apartments at the corner of 5th & Peach Streets. These residences welcomed new families to downtown Erie, contributing to the area’s ongoing revitalization. The addition of these homes has strengthened our vibrant community, making downtown an even more exciting place to live, work, and play.
